An energising and grounding start to the day.

Open level yoga class. Based on Scaravelli-inspired technique, and drawing on ideas from Traditional Chinese Medicine, we move from stillness to movement and back to stillness again, incorporating breath work and functional movement and trying to cultivate a feeling of connectivity.

A 6 week long introduction to a gentle yet challenging form of yoga.

Suitable for curious newcomers to yoga, alongside those with more experience who want to delve deeper. Open to all ages and abilities.
Yoga is more than exercise. In this yoga we pair the breath with movement, directing breath, attention and energy around the body as we move, and find stillness. We gradually build a practice of postures and movements, in a Scaravelli-approach to yoga. Opening, closing, twisting, grounding, centreing and balancing, we stretch and strengthen, exploring familiar yoga asana alongside movements from other somatic practices such as Pilates and Feldenkrais.
Drawing on elements from traditional chinese medicine, we will introduce some philosophical concepts behind the practice. We learn tools to reclaim your attention...to enhance your ability to be in the here and now…to notice how you feel…to step out of anxieties about the future and rumination on the past, and into the present moment...and perhaps feel more at home in your own body.
By the end of the 6 weeks you will have felt challenged and thought-provoked. You will have learnt an array of practices you can use at home. You’ll have the confidence to join weekly drop-in classes, and to explore different yoga styles and teachers. And, I hope, have discovered something new about yourself.
